The event organisers would like to say a massive thankyou to everybody who came along and supported this fantastic day. People came from all over the UK just to see the convoy rolling along through Blackpool illuminations. Limousine operators and chauffeurs travelled from every corner of the country just to be part of this record and charity event. Although we are waiting official confirmation from the Guiness Book of Records, we can confidently say that we managed over the 1 mile target.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Blackpool, Councilor Robert and Gaynor Wynne, have chosen Blackpool Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Trust as their charity during their year of office in 2007-2008. The Blackpool's A Knockout Appeal is aiming to raise £100,000, this is a record breaking sum for a Mayoral year in Blackpool, and if successful our Charitable Fund has agreed to match this target figure pound for pound. The Appeal is also being supported by Radio Wave as their charity of the year, and the Trust is extremely grateful for their enthusiastic backing of the Mayor's charity.

Robert and Gaynor would like to pass on the following message:

"The monies we raise during our year as the town's first citizens, through the Blackpool's A Knockout Appeal, will be used to help deliver a knockout blow to childhood illnesses, which will benefit the children of Blackpool, it's surrounding areas, and our visitors. When staff at Victoria Hospital told us that child patients couldn't have a scan at the "Vic" and had to travel to Liverpool and Preston, resulting in lengthy waits for diagnosis, we knew this couldn't continue.
